A Time To Remember

Walter Cronkite passed away yesterday and it reminded me of his era of news reporting. In his day, the news media looked for important news. He admitted there was some sensationalism even then, but the news was meant to deliver intelligent topics to the people. Topics and stories from around the world that supported our democracy and our American leadership upon our planet. He acknowledged the current trend is more about people's bank accounts and celebrity suffering. Stuff of the tabloids forty years ago, but mainstream media today.
Cronkite's message left me with a feeling of thanks. An attitude of gratitude that I too had lived through the greatest years of the twentieth century. The Kennedy years and man landing on the moon. Those were years of great social and technological triumph. Times when the thought of flying cars and robot servants seemed reasonably close. Years the likes of which we will probably never see again. So I appreciate that I lived through those years and heard from men like Walter Cronkite. Men of the highest standards, whose goals were those of societal progression and not just personal gain. Men whose achievements will stand out forever in our recorded history. Men who we should aspire to be like again.
Today I want to thank our sponsors and advertisers, as their revenues are what is driving the Ikeler4000 forward to it's completion and it's Round The World Record Setting Flight. Those will be days worth living in and they are coming soon!
